Mineral oil soak!

Postby Madmarco » Thu Dec 05, 2019 7:47 pm

Hi again! I'm considering doing a mineral oil soak on my new, Brazilian horn scales knife, and I'm just wondering if I'm suppose to submerge the entire handle in the oil? Everything I have read says "insert the handle in a beaker of mineral oil, so the blade is sticking out of the beaker", but, I'm concerned about the internal guts, like the button, liners, safety, etc. Is this how its done, guts and all? Thanks Chad, Mark! 8-)

This is kind of a myth. I have never heard of anyone having good lasting results. The best other option I have seen, is to us any lotion with lanolin in it. Rub it on thick and then wipe. Plus it can be done any time you want without the mess. Try that first. ;)
